hello chook, last year i had a strong dream team and won our super strong league. in the first round back in 2006, i had spider as my captain at york park. he sucked arse and i traded him first round. sounds silly for an experienced DTer like myself, but i was angry. i nearly did the same to goodes this week through anger at his sluggish performance around the ground. i know the importance of trades so i took the interesting (yet no less irrational) approach of putting the responsibility straight back on his shoulders and gave him the chance as captain again. will he rise to my challenge? how do u think he will respond?

how about an 'ask chook' column.. people can send in questions and before lock out, we can get advice from the great man...

Hello chaps!

You don't want my advice. I was also in a super strong league last year and got smashed. DT Talk aims to provide information, like ins and outs, etc, but is shite at advice. (Outside of the blindingly obvious, like the Everitt post earlier).

Instead, I reckon I'll track down the bloke who won the league I was in last year and ask him to do an advice column. He knows his stuff.

Dear Mr Merv

What a great insight you offer others Dream Teamers across the nation, however, I have a problem. I have spent hours researching, studying form, monitoring the ins/out and pretty much working my arse off during the off season. My aim, was to contruct a solid and winnable team....but your 'advice' caters for the lazy and non-committed. You are helping shit lazy DTer's become half desent. Please stop, or just give shit advice, your tips are tooooo good. Regards, an angry and tired Calvinator

Calvin, this makes you earn your win a bit more.

Instead of triumphing in a canter, you now have to carefully consider every trade, every player, every week, in the hope it may give you the 10 or 20 point edge that will see you home.
